Yesterday was a day, wasn’t it? First we got an Oscar-worthy performance from a senator no one heard of before when he stormed into a Noem presser. Then Breyer’s decision on the NG in Cali stole the headlines. Later in the day Israel, angry at getting no attention, starts firing at Iran. And no one is talking abt the Congressional hearing where Hochul, Walz, and Pritzker were grilled over the fallout from their sanctuary state status.
PADILLA’S PERFORMANCE.
Alex Padilla, the guy to whom Newsom gave Kammie’s senate seat when she became VP entered a Noem presser, didn’t ID himself & was not wearing his senatorial pin, and stormed towards Noem. Security immediately surrounded him and forced him out of the room.
Security did its job. This was a classic performative Dem move meant to generate fear and anger prior to the No Kings protests. Here’s Homeland Security’s post after the fact:
Noem on Fox later in the day had this to say and she’s far nicer than I would have been:
Here are multiple Padilla posts declaring no one is above the law after acting like he was:
Nothing spells performative like senators posting the same message at almost the exact same time (senate/congressional Dems have media centers which generate these for them to send):
BREYER RULES AGAINST DJT ACTIVATING NG IN CALI.
Judge Breyer ruled President Trump’s seizure of California’s National Guard violated federal law, forcing POTUS to relinquish military control back to state authorities.
Breyer’s decision hinged on Trump’s failure to meet statutory thresholds for military intervention, ruling the civil disturbances fell short of qualifying as an insurrection. The judge found the administration circumvented mandatory procedures and potentially violated restrictions on domestic military use. Legal experts see this as judicial pushback against expansive executive authority during domestic crises. <pull from PF on tele>
Julie Kelly on Breyer’s ruling:
The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals issued a stay on Breyer’s decision, allowing DJT to keep the NG in L.A. Breyer knew how the appeals court would rule, which is why he stalled action on his ruling until 3 p.m. today. This will end up in SCOTUS.
ISRAEL BACK AT IT.
News broke yesterday afternoon re: Israel launched air strikes on Iran’s nuke facilities. This isn’t really a surprise, coming after the evacuations of non-essential personnel in US embassies in various ME countries.
This situation is fluid as I write this. Given that, the most up-to-date (and source w/o a subscription) is the DM. Here’s their reporting on Iran’s response. If you’re reading this later in the day today, I recommend you check the BBC’s live coverage link and/or Reuters for the most recent developments.
DJT has enough to deal with at home w/o Israel starting another forever war. I hoped he would tell Israel they’re on their own, but he said last night the US will stand with Israel <see “I didn’t vote for this” below>. There are some pointing out DJT is using Israel to destroy Iran and, in the process, destroy Israel’s long hold on US policy in the ME. I’d like this to be true, but hate seeing the US get dragged into another ME kinetic conflict, even financially.
Understand this is another facet of the cornered DS lashing out as it loses power.
MEANWHILE…BACK AT THE RANCH.
All these distractions got me looking for the ‘Look Here, Not There” (LH, NT) that they don’t want us seeing. Governors Hochul (NY), Walz (MN), Pritzker (IL) were on the hot seat yesterday for their sanctuary state policies and how they affected actual citizens at a congressional hearing. Vigilant Fox has an excellent thread with video highlights and you can read it here. I’m posting Elise Stefanik’s evisceration of Hochul bc Hochul’s face shows she isn’t used to getting what the Dems dish out to the Rs every day:
And it wouldn’t be the political theater we’ve come to expect if Tlaib didn’t proclaim she’s Palestinian (not American), start to cry, and scream, “They’re arresting dish washers!!!”:
None of these governors walked out unscathed. Look, these hearings with their demands for ‘yes or no’ answers to complex questions serve only one purpose: to get a soundbite on the evening news for the congresspeeps and senators. Still it’s get to see how the Dems used a fake incident and an air strike on the other side of the globe to distract us from seeing how weak these governors are.
I DIDN’T VOTE FOR THIS.
This is no time to weakness. DJT is pivoting and I don’t like it:
FINAL NOTE.
DR on X ‘followed the money’ and discovered which orgs are paying for tomorrow’s No King protests thru money washing beyond the usual suspects we’ve already ID’d.
